Make in India: A journey towards prosperity

'Make in India' is not merely a slogan but a mission with a vision, it is an effort to aggregate the skilled hands and brain to take up activities and enterprises that give a supply linkage to GDP growth of the nation. It also makes out a case for more hands on skill creation that was not felt so far as dimension of growth. 'Make in India' would spurt the manufacturing sector and give integration to agricultural business sector that revolves around logistics, communications, service and IT related issues. From this angle it would embrace all sectors where there is a demand-supply imbalance but it ought to be given patronage in terms of tax and non tax benefits for few years to stabilize. The single window clearance for all permissions and easing of the process of starting, it would be the greatest motivation. Sectors such as defense, solar, communication and raw material processing can take the burden of 'Make in India" initiative to grow tall. India is a country with population of 125 crore people with different geographical area, faith, culture, languages, problems and local need. There cannot be a magical remedy to treat everything with satisfaction. The realization of 'Make in India' mission is subjected to certain conditions, which need to be collectively addressed by proactive approach of common people, industrialists, trade unions, educational institution, political parties and policy makers. This is the era of 'co-existing' issues and hence nothing can be seen in the perspective of 'right or wrong' instead we need to see through the dimension of 'appropriate and inappropriate' as this is more accommodating. We need to address few persistent co-existing issues with pure conscience. Land & Farmers: A farmer is not just a land holder but its family consists of parents, children, animal and house he lives. Therefore 'Make in India' has to give due regards to farmers when their lands are involved and also stimulate the local participation in terms of capital or equity participation of locals to make the money generation to lubricate the economy and not result in capital flight from country. Due regard had to be given therefore to balance the local economic needs and wealth generation that are going to be the outcome of this effort. When a land is acquired for a project then a farmer is affected in many ways, therefore the criteria of financial acknowledgement to farmers should not be just with respect to area of land. If a farmer is becoming landless in the process then he is to be treated differently. This balancing act is very much necessary to maintain balance with people belonging to different economic segment. Environment & development: It has been coexisting since long. In the present circumstances, instead of complimenting, it is contradicting each other. In the balancing act we have to take local people in the process and analyze the things in two tiers. First we should only go for developmental projects, if beneficiaries are much larger in number than the people going to be adversely affected by it and then find the customize measures to minimize the damage to environment. Employment of skilled & unskilled human resource: Skilled work force is always preferred but industry should also have the provision of training the local unskilled people as per their demand and requirement. This will be like head of the family taking care of their children. Production & productivity: Industry should concentrate upon increasing the overall productivity with the help of man and machine. Increasing production alone will put issues like work condition and labour safety at risk. Company growth & labor welfare: Growth of the company should be directly proportional to the welfare of the labour. Company should make them feel that they are the integrated part of company's growth. A sense of inclusive growth with in human resource is sign of prosperity. Local market & export: This is particularly for foreign companies setting up manufacturing facilities here in India under an Indian subsidiary identity and catering the demand of international market simultaneously. It has been matter of ambiguity that revenue generated from local market goes to subsidiary but revenue generated from export goes to the parent company in their native country. This deprived our government from income that would have come through various taxes and also the Indian subsidiary who would have proportionately given fund for CSR with respect to that additional income. Intention counts! 'Make in India' will obtain the socio-economic growth of the people of India in particular and economic growth of India as a whole. This will provide a thrust to growth engine of our country. Let the prosperity prevail.
